Before Days of Darkness we first thought of a hashtag called #28daysofdarkness. It commemorated Black Nashville Community leaders still alive and working for the community.
After celebration and positivity over the hashtag, we decided to transform #28daysofdarkness into #365daysofdarkness. This was still slightly limited in its thinking and what came from it was this website.
Our purpose is to highlight Tennessee black leaders in different categories and highlight their great work and achievements. From this we want to break the gatekeeper mentality and open the floodgates of the diverse voices and doers in our community.
There’s nothing negative about darkness, we celebrate the darkness everyday. Thanks for visiting days of darkness website.
